| Chiropractic medicine care is evident in the recorded histories of ancient Greece & China. Spinal manipulation and the manipulation of the legs as away to relieve back pain is documented. Spinal manipulation began gaining momentum in America the late 1800’s. At that time the Chiropractic profession was founded by Daniel David Palmer in Davenport, Iowa. He went on to begin the Palmer School of Chiropractic, still one of the top chiropractic schools in the country.
A degree in chiropractic medicine requires over 4200 hours of education over a 4-5 year period. The 4000+ hours includes, lab, classroom & clinical experiences. Once the education is completed, future chiropractors must take a national & state exam, to obtain licensing.
In learning more about chiropractic medicine, what seems most impressive to me is the attempt to allow the body to heal itself & to first use non-invasive techniques to help that patient heal.

The Council on Chiropractic Education is an agency certified by the U.S. Department of Education & is the accrediting body for chiropractic colleges in the United States.
"CCE was incorporated in 1971 and is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education as the specialized accrediting agency for the Doctor of Chiropractic Degree Program. CCE has been so recognized since 1974. According to CCE Policy BOD 151: "Accredited entities must clearly state their accreditation status as awarded by the Commission on Accreditation. All doctor of chiropractic degree programs accredited by the COA must use the following statement when publicly describing their status: The doctor of chiropractic degree program of (name of program) is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education, 8049 N. 85th Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85258. Tel: 480-443-8877. In a case where the doctor of chiropractic degree program of a solitary purpose chiropractic institution has been reviewed and accredited by the COA, and the institution has not yet achieved accreditation by a regional accrediting body, that institution may request and undergo COA review according to established criteria for award of institutional status. Institutions achieving such institutional status by virtue of COA review must, in addition to the statement noted above, use the following statement when publicly describing such institutional status: (Name of solitary-purpose chiropractic institution) is afforded institutional status by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education, 8049 N. 85th Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85258.
